We Mothers for Clean and Safe Vehicles are from diverse backgrounds and
have all kinds of different interests. But one thing we have in common is
definite opinions about vehicles and transportation. Our goal is to help
people make educated and rational decisions by giving them access to lots
of information about vehicles — but we won't be shy about our opinions
either.
We'd like to use this page to share those opinions with you — and
give you the chance to share your opinions, experiences and vehicle stories
with us.
I have owned my Toyota Prius since May 2005.
My son, who was 4-1/2 at the time, rode with me during the test drive
and I let him pick out the color, which is salsa red. My son is so proud
of our car, and tells me often how beautiful it is and when we are around
other people and approach our car, he tells them that it is an electric
car and explains about the two engines and that it uses very little gasoline.
He also tells them that he is helping to save the earth. In addition to
enjoying my son's pride in helping the environment, I have enjoyed visiting
the pumps very rarely, and spending only about $25 per month in gasoline.
The car is quiet, sleek, and is lessening my footprint on the earth. I
love it.

Everyone has the thing that keeps her up at night,
the thing she cares about. For me, it's global climate change. I started
noticing it when I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma at 30 years old.
With each passing year, the sun felt hotter on my skin . Statistics bear
out what I noticed: kids get this disease younger and younger now (New
York Times, April, 2005).
I never feel as right as when I'm in nature. Since I love our planet,
I have to fight for it. I found a way to take action through Don't Be
Fueled. Instead of being overwhelmed and depressed about global climate
change, now I feel energetic and hopeful. You, too, can do something by
joining our campaign with your time and your dollars. My red Prius says
DNTBFLD on the license plate. Honk if you love our planet.

Dear Mrs. Rosenberg:
I enjoyed reading your thoughts and ideas in the I.J. (Marin Independent
Journal) last evening. My wife drives 2004 Toyota Prius and I drive the
2002, we enjoy helping the planet one gallon at a time. Keep up your good
works!

I love my Toyota Prius for many reasons.
I can drive any car I want and I drive a Prius because I can carry 5 people
from one place to another getting close to 40 miles per gallon! The comfort
of 3 adults and 2 teens is not the priority but being able to make a U-turn
in the middle of the street with just one turn of the wheel to get that
parking place is! I have the older model Prius which is 6 inches shorter
than my husband's newer one. I can park in one third the time it used
to take me in my Volvo because I can negotiate the smallest of spaces
others can't. In this city, this attribute is valued at a premium.
